Well I enjoyed that a lot more than I expected to. It was quite creepy in parts and I loved Rory's little aside about thinking he's going to die (just waiting for him to say "I'm a nurse" in part 2). It was paced quite well, the only thing I didn't love was the Cleaves character, who seemed like a bit one-dimensional (although I actually quite liked her ganger). I didn't understand why anybody would take the risk she imposed on everybody.

Looking forward to part 2. I feel like this two-parter is a bit like an apology for "The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood" last year. That story attempted to explore the whole question of "how do you reconcile two groups with conflicting interests?" but it didn't really work because the characters on both sides were one-dimensional and unsympathetic. This story is doing the same theme, but doing it much better I think.

I was just coming here to say, "didn't they do this same two-part episode last year?" It could've even been done in the same church. Bah. The one last year felt like grotesque colonialism-apologism, I hope this year we get something other than "let's maintain the established order for no reason related to justice."

Cleaver-G's line about how Cleaver-H's was being just like her (and the couple following) were great, weren't they? LOL.

But I will say, the "see! It was a trick! It's WAR NOW." on the part of the gangers felt out of left field.

(Also, I hope they manage to fit in a Life on Mars crossover reference in there next week. They sort of already did, with the way that Cleavers-H killed DC Skelton whatever-the-hell-his-name-was.

I thought the last two weeks were meh but this one was genuinely creepy which seems to be the opposite of the consensus everywhere I go but whatevs.
