I've drafted a set of community rules, as it was suggested we needed to have clearer policies on spoilers, fanworks, etc. It's largely based on the rules currently on the community user info, only fleshed out a little. Any comments, suggestions for additions or amendments, etc are welcome. When we've come to agreement about a set of rules, I'll put them up on the user info page.

Welcome to Moffat Era Who, a Livejournal community dedicated to discussion of Steven Moffat era "Doctor Who." Please feel free to post reviews, discussion, speculation, photos, icons and fanworks here.

Please note that this is a VERY new community and still a work in progress. Get in touch with the owner if you want to get involved - the more people use this community and the more people engage, the more time and effort will be spent on getting things up to speed.

Rules:

1. PURPOSE. This community has been specifically designed for fans of the Eleventh Doctor, the Steven Moffat era of "Doctor Who" and previous Moffat-penned stories. We're not saying you have to love absolutely everything about the current Who era, but it is intended for fans who enjoy the current era.

2. CONTENT. Feel free to post reviews, speculation, photos, icons and fanworks here. When posting icons, fanworks, etc you may prefer to post directly to your personal journal and post a link on this community. Any large posts (more than a paragraph), should go under a Livejournal cut. To see how to do a Livejournal cut, click here.

3. EPISODE REACTIONS. Please note, reaction posts will be started on Saturdays before a new episode is screened. Comments in these posts will contain spoilers. Brief comments on the episode should be posted here, rather than as separate topics. However, it is fine to start a new topic containing or linking to a larger review.

4. SPOILERS. Please remember that there are fans in this community who may have to wait weeks or months to see an episode after it's been screened in the UK. Similarly, not everybody wants to know plots of episodes that haven't been screened yet. Therefore, all posts containing spoilers must be clearly marked, and spoilers themselves placed below a Livejournal cut.

5. RESPECT. Don't be a moron. Racist/sexist/homophobic language will not be tolerated. Personal attacks on other members are also unacceptable. Please also note that although we are primarily concerned with Steven Moffat era Who, this is not a place to attack other creators or actors - criticism is fine, inflammatory language is not. Essentially, if you wouldn't say something to someone's face, don't say it here.

6. MODERATION - Currently, topics can be posted without moderator approval. This policy will be reviewed if things get rowdy. Moderators will step in if the above rules are broken. For minor infractions or misunderstandings, you can expect a polite request. For serious idiocy, the post or comment will be deleted and repeat offenders and spammers may be banned from the community.

What do we think?

These all sound fair and good rules to have :)

I'm just wondering if there's anything you want help with in the comm? Or just general posting and promoting?

Unfortunatly the only layout I know how to put a header into is Flexible Squares (I really need to research into this so I can sort my own journal out!)

I'll be posting icons soon so I'll be sure to post a link here! And I'll be promoting in my next journal entry :)

Great job setting up the comm by the way!

I think it's fine in conversation, but obviously swearing at someone is another thing, but I think that is sort of implied in the "don't be an idiot rule".

These rules all sound perfectly reasonable.

One question: how do we define fanworks? For instance, would it include fanfiction or is it limited to graphics, etc. It would be good to have a clear definition there so everyone's on the same page. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing fic here but it may not be everyone's cup of tea.

When I figure out how to do it, I will link back to my journal where I'm archiving a fanfic I wrote.

Just a quick question, are we making all posts friends only, or no? I was just thinking that when I do the music post, it might be a good idea to make it friends-only so as to be wary of any issues with downloading, etc.

No, I agree with most other posts. I think other communities usually do it to get more people to actually join the community than just watch, I was just thinking more about the music-related posts, but whatever you think is best.

Yeah, I think that's probably a good idea. I'll add that plus the 24-hour RCAA rule to my music posts when I start them.

I can't wait for more people to get active! =D
