Hello and welcome to Moffat Era Who. As you may have noticed, this is a very lo-fi basic community at the moment. After looking at some of the blogs and communities scattered around the web, I thought it might be useful to have a community specifically for fans of the current era of Doctor Who (from 2010 onwards). And as you might have guessed, I haven't had a lot of experience running communities (or to be more accurate, none). So this is definitely a work in progress.

Want to help develop this community? There are various ways you can help:

1. Graphics. As you can see, we're currently using a basic Livejournal layout. Have a few minutes to spare on creating a new one? Go for it.

2. Moderators. Want to volunteer? Any advice to offer? Get in touch.

3. Adverts. You may have noticed this is not a paid account, which means the community still has adverts. If you want to change this, the best way is to use this community. I'm more than happy to upgrade to a paid account if a significant level of interest in this community is shown.

4. Get involved. This is a brand new community. The first members of this community will play a vital role in shaping what it looks like. So post a comment, start a topic, show off your icons and get involved.

Off we go then...

Well, I'm no big... moderator... runner person, but I'll volunteer if you need help, and it's easy enough to find a premade layout that'd suit the comm.

Oh, also, maybe to get people involved initially, start a discussion? Maybe like a Moffat vs. RTD eras, and why exactly people prefer one to the other. To be honest, I've only vaguely convinced myself I prefer Moffat's, and I'm still not sure why, so it'd be good to see opinions for and against each era.

I'm willing to help out with moderating. If I figure out how to do fancy graphical stuff I'll certainly share the knowledge (I think to get really fancy you do have to have a paid account). Please let me know how I can assist. I love Moffat-era Who and I'm excited to find a community devoted to it. :)

Haha well, it is an awesome phrase. That may have been the first time I ever used it... but it definitely won't be the last time, it clearly gets better results than any of the Doctors' catchphrases!

It'd be lovely to be a mod, but could I be the quiet one who hangs around in the back and chimes in with random helpful info or to kick somebody in the leg and run away? (I'll limit this last one to drama queens and troublestarters and such, honest).

Well, if you'd like me to put in a layout, I can do that no problem. I can link you to a good place to find a layout, here (http://fruitstyle.livejournal.com/tag/layouts) - if you pick one, I can probably jam it in.

I think the user info is fine. The key word here seems to be RESPECT. And I agree on the RTD bashing. There were things he did as show-runner which I didn't like (David Tennant, the whole "Torchwood" arc from series 2) but we have to remember it was RTD who brought Doctor Who back and who hired Moffat in the first place and for those things we should be grateful to him.
I am still willing to help as a mod. I am excited to find this community - I've seen too many which seem to bash Moffat so this is a welcome change!

Neat! *does some mod stuff*

I wouldn't advise setting anyone as a maintainer unless you really trust them. Maintainers are basically you - you can do anything with the community, delete it, remove you as the boss, etc. So I wouldn't add anyone as a maintainer unless you know you can trust them.

I like the blue idea, plus I feel Moffat's era is very blue-y, no? The cloud one is pretty, but I maybe prefer the second one... or there's this one (http://fruitstyle.livejournal.com/17781.html) or this one (http://fruitstyle.livejournal.com/26987.html)? Maybe a little plain? Or completely opposite direction and shove in some pink or something (http://fruitstyle.livejournal.com/16428.html), haha.

Don't worry if it looks odd for a minute, I'm jiggling the layouts around.

First go. Do we like? I could probably take it or leave it, to be honest.

Sounds good!

Hey, just wanted to say, thanks for making this community! There's enough Moffat hate out there and it's nice to have a place to share in the Moffat Era love! :D

I'm totally willing to help out as a moderator if you need any more! And if you don't need another right now, you can always keep me in mind. =]

Just a thought, but maybe we can do a Saturday post where we can all gush so it's all in one place? Also, I don't know if it's completely relevant, but if we wanted to do a weekly post where we collect the songs used on the confidential episode, I'd definitely be willing to organize that. ^_^

Fab that you've got moderator and maintainers already, I would volunteer but it seems you have plenty for the time being and also I might be a little too unreliable. But still, if you do need my help for whatever reason, just ask.

Also, the above posters suggestion of a gushy Saturday post sounds excellent.

Okie dokie, I will start doing that this weekend, then! =D

Tried out another, what do we think of this one? The only real issue is that the video's too big for it, but that's easily solved with a cut or smaller video or something, idek.

It's cool! We want the absolute perfect layout for this, so I don't mind, it only takes a minute to get each one. What do we think of this one? It's a change of colour.

Absolutely yeah, go for it. We could have a banner too?

I love this idea but please please please put show reviews behind a cut. I'm in the US so I won't be seeing the new eps until hours after folks in the UK have seen them (it airs at 9pm over here so there's not only the time dif but another 3 hours or so on top of that to consider).

Many thanks!

Oh, I'm also in the U.S. I'm mostly just talking about a generic post where people can add comments so you'd only see if you click-through.

I definitely think we should set a rule about spoilers(!), though. Definitely have everything behind a cut if someone is doing a review. I'm pretty sure that as a moderator, once you have to review cuts, you'll be seeing behind the cut, so I'd watch out for that.

Going to add here, you seem pretty set for you moderators, but if you want someone from the opposite side of the globe (Australia, *waves*) and thus a completely different time zone to keep an eye on things, I'm happy to help. Also be mindful, Australia is a week behind the UK/US (well, most of Australia. I'm not) so the spoiler and when does something not need to have a spoiler warning on it needs to be clear.

I think you need to create a rules post and also an FAQ section, where you have clearly listed the spoiler policy, what needs to go behind a cut (I'd recommend large amounts of pictures/icons, spoilers, reviews, large amounts of text too need to go behind one).

What is the policy on fan fiction, fan works etc? Can recs be posted any day of the week, or only on certain days? I have a few ideas from Sherlock communities I'm a part of if you want more ideas, I'm happy to launch them out there.

Sorry if I went into too much detail.
